Lakes

Schwarzsee
Enjoy the idyllic atmosphere of the lake and the "Maria zum Schnee" chapel with its wonderful legend. You can read more about this on the information boards there.

Riffelsee
After a walk of about 10 minutes from the Rotenboden station (below the Gornergrat), in the nature reserve area, you can admire the reflection of the east face of the Matterhorn in the Riffelsee lake.

Leisee
The Leisee lake, just below the Sunnegga, has plenty of space for relaxation, resting, sunbathing, cooling down, playing games, and barbecuing for both young and old. The lake, from which there is a wonderful view of the Matterhorn, is an ideal destination for families.

Grindjisee
The face of the Matterhorn is also reflected in the Grindjisee lake. The easiest way to reach this lake, which is surrounded by trees, is to use the 5-Seenweg trail from Blauherd.

Grünsee
Paths lead to the Grünsee lake from various directions. It can be reached from Sunnegga, Blauherd, Riffelalp or Gornergrat. The clear mountain lake is the perfect spot for a picnic or just to take a breather. You can also enjoy a refreshing dip; the water comes from glacier melt and is as cold as you would expect.

Stellisee
The Stellisee is an idyllic mountain lake reached in only 20 minutes from the Blauherd station. The lake reflects the most impressive face of the Matterhorn and is the ideal spot for amateur photographers who want to have a double image of this mountain of mountains.
