Lakes

Schwarzsee
Enjoy the idyllic atmosphere of the lake and the "Maria zum Schnee" chapel with its wonderful legend. You can read more about this on the information boards there.

Riffelsee
After a walk of about 10 minutes from the Rotenboden station (below the Gornergrat), in the nature reserve area, you can admire the reflection of the east face of the Matterhorn in the Riffelsee lake.

Leisee
The Leisee lake, just below the Sunnegga paradise, has plenty of space for relaxation, resting, sunbathing, cooling down, playing games, and barbecuing for both young and old. The lake, from which there is a wonderful view of the Matterhorn, is an ideal destination for families.

Grindjisee
The face of the Matterhorn is also reflected in the Grindjisee lake. The easiest way to reach this lake, which is surrounded by trees, is to use the 5-Seenweg trail from Blauherd.

Grünsee
The Grünsee lake is a branch point for several hiking/walking trails. It can be reached from the Sunnegga paradise, Blauherd, Riffelalp or Gornergrat. This clear mountain lake is ideal for a picnic or for catching your breath after an energetic hike. You can also refresh yourself in its cool waters. The water is glacial melt water, and is correspondingly cold.

Stellisee
The Stellisee lake is an idyllic mountain lake that can be reached from the Blauherd station in only 20 minutes. The most prominent side of the Matterhorn is reflected in the lake.
