Winter activities
Curling and ice stick shooting
The 16 rinks on the natural ice rink in Zermatt simply invite you to try your hand at curling and ice-stick shooting. Don't worry: You don't need to bring the equipment with you like our Scottish guests had to do many years ago in the Twenties.

Ice climbing
What is it that is so fascinating about shadowy rock faces, narrow crevasses and north faces in the winter? Frozen waterfalls are not only beautiful to look at, but also to touch. Over the ice, you can reach places that are otherwise inaccessible.

Ice skating and ice hockey
This is somewhere you really have to go once you've returned from the piste. All the children and young people meet at the natural and indoor ice rinks in the middle of the village for free enjoyment on the ice. You can hire ice skates in the sports shops in the vicinity.

Winter hiking/walking
The destination offers 70 km of winter walking paths, 20 km of them above the villages of Täsch and Randa. Enjoy the peace and quiet away from the pistes, on high altitude paths with marvellous views.
Snowshoe hiking
This is a mode of transport once used by our ancestors. There was no indigenous tribe that didn't develop its own type of snowshoe. While these were formerly made of wood, small branches and animal sinews, today's snowshoe hiking fans have a choice of high-tech materials.

Tobogganing
Zermatt youths give them names such as "Dok der Bob" and "Üz the red horse". They are "hot stuff": We're talking about toboggans, whose runners throw up sparks on the local toboggan runs.
