The Matterhorn

Getting to Zermatt

Every day, visitors from all over the world set off on their trip to the Matter Valley, brimming with excitement and anticipation as they head for Zermatt and the Matterhorn. The car-free resort has so much to offer, even the journey there is an experience.

You can come by train on the world-famous Glacier Express, or in the comfort of your own car as far as the neighbouring village of Täsch (Zermatt is a car-free zone), or even by helicopter: whatever suits you best.

Or what about arriving via the highest Alpine cableway crossing? Thanks to the Matterhorn Alpine Crossing there’s a new way of reaching Zermatt. Amidst the breathtaking Alpine panorama around the Matterhorn, the new route offers an exceptional travel experience.

While others are still skiing, there’s already a chance to explore some of the hiking trails during the spring. You can combine skiing and hiking or switch between the two.
