THE WORLD’S HIGHEST 3S CABLEWAY
Since the 2018/19 winter season, the Matterhorn glacier ride has been carrying passengers from Trockener Steg to the Matterhorn glacier paradise (Klein Matterhorn) at 3883 metres above sea level. The highest cableway of its kind anywhere in the world boasts a number of superlatives and special features: step into one of the panoramic cabins designed by Pininfarina, relax on a heated seat and enjoy the nine-minute journey through the high-Alpine landscape around the Matterhorn. Your destination: the Matterhorn glacier paradise, a unique mountain resort with exciting attractions – accessible 365 days a year.

THE ULTIMATE THRILL
The luxury doesn’t stop there: the Matterhorn glacier ride’s Crystal ride cabins are adorned inside and out with thousands upon thousands of Swarovski crystals; they are the first and only cabins of their kind in the world. What’s more, the Crystal ride cabins are fitted with a glass floor which becomes transparent three minutes into the journey, revealing within seconds views of the glacier 170 metres below.
Book your Crystal ride ticket now to enjoy this unique thrill in one of the four Crystal ride cabins on the brand-new Matterhorn glacier ride.
Crystal Ride Highlights
- The glass-floor factor – 170 metres above the void
- Star treatment – exclusive Swarovski design on the inside and outside of the cabin
- No queuing – fast-track admission at the valley station
The Crystal Ride ticket is a supplement to your regular single or return to the Matterhorn glacier paradise, your Peak Pass or ski pass; and can only be purchased on site at Trockener Steg station. Please note that during the winter season, the Crystal Ride cabins have to be pre-booked for groups of more than ten people due to high demand.
Each of the four Crystal Ride cabins has 28 seats, so it’s possible that you will have to share the ride with other passengers.
Vision OF AN "aLPINE cROSSING"
The construction of the world’s highest 3S cableway to the Matterhorn glacier paradise is just the first stage in the realization of a much more far-reaching vision: to create a continuous cableway connection between Zermatt and Italy – the so-called “Alpine Crossing”. This will be made possible by the addition of another structurally similar 3S cableway which is already in the planning stages and is intended to link Testa Grigia and the Matterhorn glacier paradise. In spring 2021, visitors should be able to travel from Zermatt to Cervinia (or vice versa), the highest crossing in the Alps, without having to get their boots wet in the snow – all under the watchful eye of the Matterhorn!
