Ticket insurance is an included service that entitles you to a pro-rata refund if your skiing day at Matterhorn Ski Paradise cannot go ahead as planned due to illness, an accident or extreme weather conditions.
The insurer provides cover if the insured is unable to use the ticket as a result of the following events:
- Accident, illness or death of the insured
- Accident, illness or death of a close relative
- Weather conditions: insurance cover applies if skiing in the Zermatt ski area is not possible or cannot reasonably be expected to take place due to storms, risk of avalanches or excess snowfall; these events are subject to official communication by the resort.
Basic season and Peak season (when the Sunnegga-Rothorn, Gornergrat and Matterhorn Glacier Paradise sub-areas are open): Insurance cover applies if fewer than two of the following mountain stations with access to the slopes are open:
- Trockener Steg in the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise sub-area
- Riffelberg in the Gornergrat sub-area
- Blauherd in the Rothorn sub-area
Pre-season: During the pre-season, when only the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise sub-area is open, cover applies if skiing operations in this sub-area are completely suspended. No cover applies if the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise mountain station with access to the slopes is accessible or if the Furggsattel chairlift is in operation.
International Pass: The terms and conditions set out above apply to the Zermatt area covered by the International Ski Pass. If access to the Cervinia/Valtournenche ski area from Zermatt is not possible due to weather conditions, in particular strong winds, avalanche risk or excessive snowfall, you are entitled to a pro-rata refund of the portion of the cost attributable to Cervinia/Valtournenche. This is subject to the condition that the unavailability is due to weather-related restrictions and does not correspond to a partial operation communicated in advance at the start or end of the season. The refund is calculated on a pro-rata basis per day affected and corresponds to the difference between the International Ski Pass and the Zermatt Ski Pass.
Restrictions: Any partial service announced in advance at the start or end of the season is not considered an insured event (subject to the timetable).
No. Refunds are only issued for unused passes.
The insurance company is Redion (Switzerland) Assurances SA.
