The new Patrullarve chairlift is taking shape
Construction work on the new Patrullarve 6-seater chairlift is progressing according to plan. Over the past few weeks, several important milestones have been reached, and the new installation is becoming increasingly visible on the construction site.
All 16 foundation pillars have now been cast in concrete and form the foundation for the forthcoming assembly work on the line. At the same time, steelwork on the valley station is in full swing. The steel components were transported by helicopter from the Zum Biel temporary storage site to the Patrullarve valley station, and assembly is now in progress.
The materials for the mountain station and the garage hall will be transported to Riffelboden by the Gornergrat Railway in mid-August and taken from there to their respective assembly sites. In addition, the line pillars will be flown by a heavy-lift helicopter from the Zum Biel temporary storage site to their final locations for assembly.
At the same time, work is beginning on the garage hall. Once the structural work is complete, the timber structure will be erected, followed by the mechanical installations for the cable car systems. By the end of August, further key milestones will be reached with the completion of the deflection station and the start of assembly work on the drive station.
The cable pull is scheduled for mid-September and represents a crucial step towards the completion of the new facility. This will be followed in October by the installation of the cable car systems in the garage hall.
With every stage of construction, the modern facility moves closer to commissioning and will, in future, make an important contribution to greater comfort, efficiency and a forward-looking infrastructure in the Matterhorn Ski Paradise.
